Microsoft Releases Virtual Server 2005

Microsoft announced today the release of its virtual server software version 2005. Designed to run multiple copies of windows operating systems on a single server, Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 is competing head-on with VMWare software.

The Software is generally used for software testing environments, legacy application hosting, and consolidating server environments. "Our customers are looking for ways to cut infrastructure costs and make better use of their IT and development teams." said Bob Muglia, senior vice president of the Windows Server Division at Microsoft.

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 is available in standard (supports up to 4 processors) and enterprise (supports up to 32 processors) editions.
